Robert E. Heany, Sr. Vice President of Engineering for WeiTel, has had extensive experience in RF and Optical engineering in the communications industry. Rob is a thirty-plus year veteran of the telecommunications industry with significant experience in engineering, design, testing and network operations of telecommunication companies offering voice, video and data services.
As Sr. Vice President of Engineering for Weintraub Telecomm, LLC, Rob has been responsible for the evaluation, design and construction of integrated systems at many sites throughout the globe. Projects have included Digital Transport, VOD systems, return path integration, Ad Insertion, system surveillance and status monitoring integration, and VoIP system preparation.
Rob previously served as the Director of Network Engineering for Digital Access, Inc. where his responsibilities included the development and deployment of a full-service network that provided voice, video and data services to both business and residential customers.
Rob also worked in the corporate engineering management of three major MSO’s. While serving as Director of Network Engineering for Suburban Cable, which was acquired by Comcast Cable in 2000, he led the design, integration and construction of a digital video network that served over one million customers.
Rob was directly responsible for the design, architectural development, test and deployment of an access system that provided cable modem and digital video signals to the entire customer base in a single integrated cluster. As a Staff Engineer in Corporate Engineering at Cablevision Systems Corporation, Rob evaluated the technical and engineering efforts of various cable system operations nationally. He specialized in headend and transmission system products, digital transport development, addressable system rollout, product selection, and technical audits. He also provided critical analysis of hardware, software and two-way addressable system operations.
Rob lives in Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania with his wife Lois.
