Headend Engineer
Summary
The Headend Engineer works with project managers, senior broadband engineers and onsite technicians to achieve excellence in voice, video and data installations. This will be accomplished by providing onsite engineering support and supervision for installations and on going projects as assigned.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Provides onsite engineering support and supervision to installations and projects that are assigned, ensuring a high degree of commitment to a successful outcome
- Provides critical analysis of system subsystem and device operations, and provides recommended corrections and solutions
- Maintains a customer-first attitude and takes extra steps to ensure customer needs are met. Takes steps to mediate issues when they are discovered
- Performs commissioning and activation testing of various headend devices and headend systems
- Works with manufacturer engineers and technicians, sub contract engineers and system engineers to develop and ensure compliance with the Specification Control and Integration Process
- Coordinate and supervise the efforts of assigned systems engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate and provide training for recommended Maintenance and Troubleshooting Procedures, Training Detail and Implementation, and Documentation of Work Process Flow
- Direct involvement in the Integration Process and System Testing
- Place, route, label, terminate and test coax/fiber/CAT5,6 cables as needed
- Preparation of documents and as-builts to company standards
- Ability to travel as required
Minimum Requirements
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the design, construction and activation of: VOD, DOCSIS, RF systems, antenna systems, analog and digital video systems, and optical transmission systems
- Must be highly knowledgeable in engineering analysis of analog and digital video systems, VOD, DOCSIS and fiber optic transmission systems.
- Must be highly capable of performing optical, RF and baseband measurement of analog and digital signals
- Candidates must have at least 8 years experience and a 4 year degree or equivalent.
- Must be thoroughly familiar and capable with AUTOCAD or VISIO.
- CISCO certification is a plus
